2023 U.S.-Booked Air Volume: $67.1 million 

Healthcare company Abbott’s 2023 U.S.-booked air volume totaled $67.1 million, according to a BTN estimate. 

The company operated in more than 160 countries in 2023 with a workforce of 114,000 employees, one thousand fewer than in 2022. Sales rose 12 percent to $40 billion. The company completed two acquisitions in 2023: Cardiovascular Systems of St. Paul, Minn., for $890 million and insulin management systems provider Bigfoot Medical of Milpitas, Calif., for which financial terms were not disclosed 

Abbott’s 2023 business travel emissions amounted to 214,000 metric tons, or 2 percent of the company’s Scope 3 emissions. Scope 3 accounted for 92 percent of Abbott’s total carbon footprint.
