Apple Inc. saw a slight fall in travel spend year over year to $180 million, down from $210 million in 2022, according to BTN estimates.
The computing and software giant posted $383.3 billion in global revenue in the 2023 fiscal year, which ended in September 2023, marking a decline of close to 3 percent year over year.
Business travel activity in 2023, including employee commute and work from home, generated 225,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, up from 113,500 the year prior.
Since 2020, Apple’s global operations, including business travel, have been carbon-neutral and the company has pledged to move to sustainable aviation fuel equal to 5 percent of its passenger air travel footprint by 2030. Apple is also a founding member of the First Movers Coalition, which aims to make flying and other forms of transport more sustainable.
The company had approximately 161,000 employees at the end of September 2023–3,000 less than in 2022.
