Construction and mining equipment manufacturer Caterpillar scaled up travel in 2023, according to a BTN estimate of its U.S.-booked air travel volume, with the estimated $91.4 million up from about $54 million in 2022.
The company has set a science-based Scope 1 and 2 goal to reduce absolute greenhouse gas emissions from its operations by 30 percent from 2018 to 2030. It did not set targets for Scope 3, which includes business travel.
Caterpillar reported $67.1 billion in revenue in 2023, a 13 percent year-over-year increase. The company's full-time employee headcount grew to 113,200 in 2023 from 109,100 in 2022, with around 45 percent of employees in the United States.
