2023 U.S.-Booked Air Volume: $27.2M
Technology company Emerson saw another leap in its U.S.-booked air spend in 2023, rising to an estimated $27.2 million, up almost 50 percent on 2022, according to a BTN estimate.
The company reported $15.2 billion net sales in 2023, up from $13.8 billion in 2022, while employees numbered 74,000.
Emerson completed the $8.2 billion acquisition of National Instruments in 2023, with a series of layoffs at NI reportedly following towards the end of the year.
Among its environmental targets, Emerson is working towards net zero operations and a 25 percent reduction of value chain emissions by 2030 compared to its 2021 baseline.
Emissions from its business travel activity in 2023 were 50,650 metric tons of CO2e, up from 36,070 metric tons of CO2e in 2022—the only Scope 3 category to increase.
The company has added GHG reduction targets as a component of annual bonuses for its leadership team.
