2023 U.S.-Booked Air Volume: $90 million
Consolidated U.S. TMC: BCD
Estimated U.S.-booked air volume of $90 million at ExxonMobil remain less than half the oil and energy giant’s pre-pandemic levels, perhaps reflecting a continuing decline in the global workforce from 75,000 in 2019 to 62,300 in 2022 and again to 61,500 in 2023. Earnings fell sharply to $36 billion in 2023 from $56 billion the year before. Earnings fell once more in the first half of 2024, down from $19 billion in the same period in 2023 to $17 billion.
However, ExxonMobil has significantly increased its operations in some territories, most notably, Guyana and, domestically, the Permian Basin, covering eastern New Mexico and western Texas. The corporation’s presence in the latter doubled following a merger with Pioneer Natural Resources Company in May 2024.
North America accounted for a growing proportion of ExxonMobil’s oil and gas production in 2023. Other countries in which it stepped up activity included Papua New Guinea, Mozambique, Australia and Qatar. Divestments took place in Thailand, Romania and Canada.
ExxonMobil has used both the Emburse expense tool and rebooking, audit and benchmark product Tripbam, since rebranded under the Emburse name.
