2023 U.S.-Booked Air Volume: $42 million

BTN estimates streaming service Netflix spent $42 million in
U.S.-booked air in 2023.
The company has set a goal to reduce its Scope 3 carbon emissions—of
which business travel accounts for about 12 percent, the second-largest
sub-category in the emissions category—by 55 percent per million dollars in
value added from a 2019 baseline by 2030. Scope 3 emissions make up about 95
percent of Netflix’s carbon footprint, and in 2023 they totaled 817,317 metric
tons. That’s down about 25 percent from 2022 levels, though that was in part
due to a smaller number of productions year over year thanks to the Writers
Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
Netflix also is among the founders of the Sustainable
Aviation Buyers Alliance, which will invest nearly $200 million into the
sustainable aviation fuel market.
Revenue at Netflix increased 7 percent year over year to
$33.7 billion in 2023. The company reported 13,000 full-time employees as of
the end of 2023, an increase from 12,800 at the end of 2022.
