2023 U.S.-Booked Air Volume: $120 million
Consolidated Global TMC: BCD
Apparel manufacturer and retailer Nike’s business travel
spending rose above pre-pandemic levels in 2023, with $120 million spent with
U.S.-booked air travel during the year.
The company in recent years has pulled back from a flexible
work model, which has driven up the share of internal meetings in its
travel program. Even with the increase in travel spending, Nike’s operating
overhead expenses—which include travel and meetings costs—were flat year over
year in the 2024 fiscal year, which ended May 31.
Nike’s revenue in the 2024 fiscal year was up slightly to
$51.4 billion, from $51.2 billion the prior fiscal year. The company in
December announced it was beginning a restructuring plan to cut $2 billion in
costs over the next three years, and later announced it was trimming its
workforce by 2 percent, most notably in the U.S. market.
Nike reported 79,400 employees globally as of the end of the
2024 fiscal year, which includes retail and part-time employees.
