2023 U.S.-Booked Air Volume: $29 million
Consolidated Global TMC: BCD Travel
New York-based Omnicom saw U.S.-booked air travel spending rise to an estimated $29 million in 2023, according to a BTN estimate.
Global revenue for the marketing and communications company, meanwhile, increased 2.8 percent to $14.69 billion.
As of Dec. 31, 2023, Omnicom employed around 75,900 people worldwide, including 24,700 in the U.S.—its largest employee base.
The company’s Scope 3 carbon emissions, which include business travel, increased by 3 percent in 2023 to 323,514 metric tons of CO2e. Omnicom said this was primarily due to changes in the way DEFRA—its selected emissions methodology—calculates travel emissions.
As part of an office space reduction program, the company simultaneously installed videoconferencing equipment to help reduce the need for business travel.
In October 2023, Omnicom announced its largest acquisition to date, that of digital commerce company Flywheel for $835 million. The deal was completed on Jan. 2, 2024, and adds in the region of $300 million in revenue and 2,000 employees.
