Aerospace and defense contractor RTX, formerly known as Raytheon Technologies, increased its U.S.-booked air spend in 2023 to $179 million, according to a BTN estimate, up from $145 million in 2022.
RTX reported net sales of $68.9 billion in 2023, up from $67.1 billion in the previous year. The company, as of July 1, 2023, streamlined its core businesses into three segments: Aerospace supplier Collins Aerospace, civil aircraft engine maker Pratt & Whitney and defense contractor Raytheon.
The company intends to decarbonize its operations by reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 46 percent by 2030 from 2019 levels. In 2023, RTX’s business travel accounted for 121,800 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions, up from 54,900 a year prior.
In 2023, RTX received accreditation from the National Business Aviation Association’s Sustainable Flight Department Accreditation Program for meeting its environmental sustainability standards. This includes purchasing carbon offsets for all corporate aircraft emissions.
The company in 2023 employed approximately 185,000 individuals in 51 countries.
