German multinational technology conglomerate Siemens slightly reduced spending on U.S.-booked air travel in 2023 by approximately $2 million year over year.

As part of the organization’s global climate goals, the U.S.-managed travel program continues to support decarbonization efforts, with nearly 300 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions avoided in 2023 from its electric vehicle car rental program. 

Sustainability-specific funding models are also being piloted for potential expansion to support future decarbonization activities within the travel program that are needed to meet global emissions targets. 

Efforts also continued in 2023 to enhance operational processes aimed to further integrate transient travel with meetings and events. 

Siemens AG revenue increased 8 percent year over year in fiscal year 2023 to €77.8 billion. The company reported about 320,000 global employees as of Sept. 30, 2023, up 3 percent year over year, and the company has about 200,000 travelers worldwide.
