2023 U.S-Booked Air Volume: $30 million
SLB returns to BTN’s CT100 for the first time since 2019, when it was known as Schlumberger, with estimated U.S.-booked air volume for 2023 of $30 million. The company changed its name in 2022, redefining itself no longer as an oilfield services company but as a “technology company driving energy innovation for a balanced planet.”
SLB has 98,000 employees in 120 countries. SLB announced in April 2024 its intention to acquire oilfield technology company ChampionX for $8.2billion. Champion X, based just outside Houston, has 7,300 employees in 60 countries.
Revenue at SLB climbed 18 percent to $33 billion in 2023. Growth was strongest outside the U.S., especially in the Middle East, Brazil, Angola, Mexico, Guyana and Norway.
According to its 2023 sustainability report, SLB is reducing travel to and from well sites through increased use of remote operations. Business travel-related emissions were 136,000 metric tonnes of CO2 in 2023, up from 123,000 tonnes in 2022, but still well down on the 2019 baseline of 165,000 tonnes.
