2023 U.S.-Booked Air Volume: $40.3M
U.S.-booked air
spending at the United Nations' New York headquarters operations totaled $40.3
million in 2023, up nearly 15 percent year over year. The multilateral
organization attributed the increase to a return to pre-pandemic travel
volumes, with a 96.4 percent client satisfaction rate.
The UN offered 17
policy and process outreach and training programs to more than 2,000 participants
last year, with the objective of improving understanding of travel analytics
and to promote data literacy. The organization also transferred nine travel
data models to a new analytics system.
The UN undertook a
change in policy that offered more flexibility, particularly regarding
deviations to official travel for personal convenience. Looking to 2024, the UN
plans to embark on a wholesale update of its 10-year-old travel policy.
The UN secretariat
includes more than 35,000 staff members located across the world in 2023.
