Alaska Airlines, through its Alaska Star Ventures arm, has made an investment in JetZero, a company developing a blended-wing body aircraft that will provide less fuel burn and lower emissions than aircraft with a traditional "tube-and-wing design," the carrier announced Tuesday.
The investment, which includes options for future aircraft orders, was made as part of JetZero's Series A funding round last year, and Alaska is the first airline to invest in the company, according to the carrier. Alaska did not disclose additional details of the deal.
